I’m catching up. This story is from 2018 at least.

Anyway, 21-year-old Gilberto Garcia-Bejarano of Sacramento, California, has been arrested for allegedly soliciting an 8-year-old girl for ‘sex’ (proposed child rape) on Snapchat. Not only do the victims of these social media scumbags seem to be getting younger, but does anyone else find anything wrong with this sentence?

The investigation began Monday when a mother contacted Roseville police after finding inappropriate Snapchat messages on her daughter’s cellphone.

Police say those inappropriate messages included Garcia-Bejarano reportedly sending the girl sexually explicit photos, asking the girl for explicit photos of herself, and tried setting up a meeting for the previously mentioned proposed child rape. Police are seeking information to see if Garcia-Bejarano had any additional victims.

They ask anyone who thinks their child has been a victim of the suspect to email Detective Patrick Ganguet at pganguet@roseville.ca.us.

Ok, but getting back to that earlier sentence, isn’t 8-years-old too young for a child to have a cell phone? It’s definitely too young for them to be on Snapchat. If your kids do have a cell phone, or even a tablet, learn how to limit which apps can be downloaded to their devices. If not, you’re basically opening the door of your kids’ rooms to these predators.

Jordan Waters

At the young age of 20-years-old, Jordan Waters, of Spring Hill, Florida, was already on five years probation for soliciting a 14-year-old girl for sex over Facebook Messenger. I guess the threat of prison didn’t stop him from his acrimonious activities as he’s been arrested again for a similar crime.

Police in Hernando County, Florida, say that Waters allegedly found the Snapchat username of a 14-year-old girl and sent explicit images of himself to the girl and solicited her for sex. When the girl told him that she was 14 Waters reportedly responded with he didn’t care how old she was. To make matters worse. Waters would allegedly stand outside of the school the girl attended and would watch the students being dismissed from school. It also turned out Waters was contacting other students from the school as well.

Police were able to pose as one of the victims and convinced him to meet at a park where Waters was promptly arrested.

If I was still a parent of school age children, this story would scare the hell out of me. Waters lived only a block from the school. Even though he was on probation and not on the sex offender registry, why was he still allowed to be so close to the school? I doubt even if he was on the registry he still wouldn’t have been dissuaded from doing what he wanted to do, but this is a definite oversight. We need to stop handling these creeps with kid gloves and give them sentences that will keep them away from our kids.

It’s highly debated whether or not a large event like the Super Bowl increases human trafficking and prostitution in the area where it’s held. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. For example, take 33-year-old Justin Beard, of Branson, Missouri. Beard was in Minneapolis in order to work some of the public events leading up to the big game. Police say Beard allegedly tried to purchase two kids off of craigslist for the purpose of sex, or as I call it, child rape.

Beard is said to have responded to a craigslist ad from a father who claimed to be offering his 15-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son for sex. In exchange, Beard would provide the man with tickets to the events he was working worth $100. Thankfully, the man behind the craigslist ad was actually an undercover investigator.

As I’ve said before, if police are apprehending one guy looking for kids, there are others there who police haven’t caught yet. Human trafficking and child prostitution are real problems that affect all locations and social classes thanks to the worldwide reach of sites like craigslist. Craigslist refuses to moderate their own site and don’t tell me it’s impossible. If Backpage can monitor and edit their ads for illegal content, then craigslist is surely able to at least monitor their site for illegal ads.

Nikko Adolfo Perez

The FBI is looking for more victims of Nikko Adolfo Perez of Atwater, California. Perez has been indicted on several counts of crimes relating to children and social media including receipt of child porn. The 26-year-old Perez is believed to have used a number of social media platforms including Omegle, Instagram, Snapchat, and Kik, among others to coerce children into sending him explicit pictures.

Two victims of Perez are already known and they are two boys from Utah ages 8 and 10. Perez allegedly befriended his victims using the screen name of ‘captainamerica272018’ He was also said to have offered his victims credit on the Google Play Store to send him the pictures and if that didn’t work he would threaten their families with violence. These are the usual tactics of many online predators. The FBI believes that Perez may have more victims and are asking for the public’s help in finding them.

Please contact the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) and selecting the option for the Nikko Adolfo Perez investigation. You may also contact your local FBI office, the nearest American Embassy or Consulate, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.

In order to protect your children from predators like this, you have to know that none of the apps and websites mentioned above are suitable for children. The terms of service of these platforms set the minimum age of usage at 13 and even that’s too young for some of these social apps in my opinion. 8 and 10 are way too young for any child to be on any of these apps unsupervised. If you’re letting your kids run free on these apps you may as well just look up the nearest sex offender on your local registry and drop your kids off at their house.

David Bryan Poplin

Before we even get started with this story I want to stress that I don’t want this turning into a Facebook lynch mob type of situation. I don’t want anyone taking matters into their own hands. Let the police do their job. However, I am looking for some information.

Back in 2015, I posted about David Bryan Poplin from Durham, North Carolina. He is a registered sex offender who allegedly used Kik and Instagram to groom an 8-year-old Pennsylvania girl. After I made that post, Poplin became more or less an afterthought to me. I just assumed he had been arrested in Durham and was extradited to Pennsylvania. However, that may not be the case.

An anonymous reader sent me a tip that Poplin was deported from Argentina back in October after being caught allegedly grooming two 13-year-old girls there. (If your Spanish is a little rusty you’ll need Google Translate.) In Argentina, Poplin allegedly used WhatsApp, which is more internationally used than in the US, and Instagram to groom these girls and coerce them into sending him explicit pictures.

So, the first question is what was he doing in Argentina in the first place? Was he not arrested in Durham back in 2015? If he was deported from Argentina where is he now? The US and Argentina do have an extradition treaty but I was unable to find Poplin in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or federal inmate searches.

So the question remains, where is he?

David Bryan Poplin

Shortly before the new year, I posted about David Bryan Poplin who is accused of grooming an 8-year-old girl from Pennsylvania over messaging app Kik in 2015. Since then I hadn’t heard anything about Poplin but an anonymous reader sent me an article that said he was caught grooming other girls in Argentina. He did some time in Argentina and was deported in October of last year but I was unable to find if he had been apprehended in the United States.

In my previous post, I asked if anyone had any information about Poplin’s legal status to send it to me. Well, the anonymous reader came through again. I was sent a link to a court document from Pennsylvania that states Poplin is, in fact, a fugitive from the law.  If the link disappears I have posted the doc below.

Hopefully, we’ll be hearing about his arrest sooner rather than later.

For years, craigslist was the online destination for sex trafficking and prostitution., It was also the destination for online predators looking for underage victims. Due to the pressure from legislators, media, and anti-human trafficking advocacy groups, craigslist closed its adult/erotic services section nationwide in 2010. This didn’t stop traffickers or predators as they just moved to craigslist’s personals and casual encounters sections while the majority of traffickers and pimps went to Backpage.

After the passage of FOSTA in 2018, craigslist not only removed their personals section but they removed casual encounters as well. This was basically craigslist’s admission that the personals and casual encounters were being used for predatory purposes. What remained was craigslist’s Missed Connections section. This is where lonely craigslist users post very stalker-like messages about someone they saw in their daily lives but didn’t have the guts to approach them.

People like familiarity, that includes sexual predators. So instead of using the personals or casual encounters sections, they’ve just moved over to the Missed Connections section. For example, take 51-year-old Donald Burnside of Upshur County, West Virginia. He was arrested after allegedly posting an ad on the Missed Connections section of craigslist that said: “Why can’t a guy get a single or married woman to have fun with?” Well, if you’re trolling craigslist for tail that may be part of your problem. Anyway, a 15-year-old girl responded to his ad. When he went to pick the girl up at a local high school West Virginia State Troopers were there waiting to take Burnside into custody.

If that’s not enough for you how about 69-year-old Louis Saldana from Austin, Texas? He was arrested after allegedly responding to a craigslist ad placed by undercover investigators. That ad was looking for responses to “an adult female with an 8th-grade minor child wanting to engage in anatomy tutoring involving sex with the minor.” Saldana is said to have responded in a more than graphic manner. Saldana was also arrested when he arrived at a prearranged meeting place.

Craigslist could correct these situations at any time by either monitoring the Missed Connections section or shutting the section down completely. I guess we’ll have for another federal law to be passed before craigslist ultimately cleans up its act.

Danny Lisk

Here’s something we haven’t talked about in a while, school employees getting into trouble with underage students on Snapchat. For some reason, Snapchat seems to be the go-to social media platform that school employees use to try to get into the pants of their students for lack of a better term.

One such school employee is 27-year-old Danny Lisk of Nye County, Nevada where Lisk worked at a local high school. Lisk is said to have allegedly friended a 15-year-old female student of the school on Snapchat before offering the girl $50 for sex and repeatedly requested nude pics from the girl. After Fisk was reported another underage student came forward saying Lisk allegedly tried the same thing with her. To top it all off, when police went through Lisk’s Snapchat account they found pictures of underage girls taken without their permission that focused on their posteriors if you will. Lisk was caught in Laredo, Texas trying to cross the border into Mexico.

When it comes to schools and social media I’m of the opinion that students should not be friends with their teachers or other faculty members. The only time students and faculty should communicate on social media is through official school channels. I don’t care if someone is the ‘cool teacher’, it’s inappropriate for teachers and underage students to be friends on social media.

One of the more popular social sites used by predators but mostly escapes the media’s notice is Omegle.  Omegle is a website whose motto is “Talk to Strangers!” Anyone can get in Omegle and chat with a total stranger either with a cam or without. Since there are no safety precautions in place on Omegle, predators often talk to underage kids on the site. In Omegle’s defense, when they do catch something they do report it to the NCMEC.

I get a lot of traffic from people doing web searches about Omegle. Before Google made their web searches private, the search queries used to almost always involve some question of whether or not someone can be arrested for using Omegle. The answer to that question is an emphatic yes. In some cases, even police officers can be arrested.

For example, take 30-year-old Simeon Isaiah Crispin Steers-Smith. He was a police officer for Chesterfield, Virginia. That didn’t stop him from allegedly going on Omegle and chatting with a 14-year-old girl.

The conversation quickly switches the topic to a sexual nature where the search warrant showed Steers-Smith asking the minor, “tell me how old you were the first time you did anything sexual…”

The chat shortly ends after the suspect says, “oh and you asked where we would do it…ideally on your bed. But if that’s too risky, I’ll rent a room at a hotel.”

Thankfully, in this case, the 14-year-old girl was an undercover investigator from nearby Hanover County.

Omegle is kind of a sneaky platform since it’s not an app as most parents are looking for suspicious apps these days. Since Omegle is just a website it can be accessed from any web-enabled device with an available data connection such as wifi or cellular data.

As usual, I recommend any device with a camera such as a laptop, phone or tablet, be kept out of a child’s room after their bedtime. And again, since Omegle is not an app you would need to check the browser history to see if Omegle is being accessed by your kids.

Steven Powell

As some of you may know, I’ve been writing about craigslist crimes for close to 13 years and even I have to admit that crime on craigslist has dropped significantly. That’s not to say craigslist is even remotely safe due to the number of robberies and ripoffs but as far as major crimes like murder and the like are concerned, there’s definitely been a drop-off. That can be attributed to two things. The first is when craigslist finally shut down their adult/erotic service section in 2010 and last year when craigslist shut down their personals and casual encounters sections.

However, craigslist did leave one section open and that was the Missed Connections section. As one might expect, the craigslist creepers and predators have shifted to Missed Connections instead of inhabiting the now-closed sections of craigslist.

One of those creepers is said to be 37-year-old Steven Powell of Marietta, Ohio. Powell is accused of placing a craigslist ad in Missed Connections that said…

“Just looking for some side action today during the day. Looking for a woman or couple only. Not into guys just not my thing. Send a pic and I will return with one.”

Police say a 15-year-old girl from Ritchie County, West Virginia responded to Powell’s ad which supposedly did not discourage Powell.

Troopers also said that Powell sent the girl messages discussing unprotected sex and oral sex.

Jesus, what is it with some creepers who want to impregnate minors?

The news is scant on details whether or not the girl was an actual girl or police posing as one or how Powell was arrested. However, this story does go to show that craigslist is still a cesspool of crime albeit a smaller cesspool.

There’s not a lot to this story but in a nutshell, Josh McGowen, age unknown, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma for allegedly Snapchatting his junk to a 10-year-old girl.

Hey parents, this is why you shouldn’t allow your 10-year-old daughters to be on Snapchat or any other social media platform. Do you really want them to be chatting with this guy? He really does look like his picture would be in the dictionary next to the word pedophile.

William Edward Ward

The Picture of Dorian Gray up there is 60-year-old William Edward Ward of Fort Smith, Florida. He did a 30-year stint in an Indiana prison for second-degree murder and was released last year. More recently, he was arrested for allegedly trying to lure a 12-year-old girl to his home through Snapchat.

Ward’s alleged behavior makes me wonder if he’s always been a creeper because he seemed to have picked up the ways of the online predator pretty quick.

According to the report, the investigator who was secretly pretending to be the 12-year-old girl got a message from Ward stating he could buy the girl an outfit from the Pornhub website and that she could get away with anything and do anything she wanted.

The undercover investigator said Ward even mentioned that he was surprised at how old she actually was and that she looked like she was 19. The investigator noted in the report that Ward mentioned how he noticed the girl and that she is a “tease.”

Oh, and this bag of wrinkles is also said to have sent the 12-year-old girl a nude pic of himself. Just what every 12-year-old girl wants.

Speaking of which, while Ward is ultimately to blame for his own actions, what the hell is a 12-year-old girl doing on Snapchat? The girl’s parents knew because they’re the ones who notified the authorities. Not only does Snapchat’s terms of service say that a user is supposed to be 13-years-old, but no minor should be on Snapchat without being monitored.

That smug looking assclown up there is 33-year-old Schuyler Stuart Corado Corado from Manassas, Virginia. He’s accused of using a gamut of social media platforms to allegedly solicit explicit pictures from 10 to 13-year-olds. Corado Corado is said to have used Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Musical.ly, and TikTok to groom his victims. What, no Kik?

Corado Corado is believed to have used a number of usernames on these platforms…

So far, investigators have identified his use of the screen names “kristianna1758,” “Tony10256,” “Wintergreen109,” “Addiction.slime,” “tony2590,” and “anniefanclub075.” Police say he also goes by the name Tony Corado on social media.

Investigators are also looking to identify other possible victims in the US and Canada.

Even though Corado Corado is a scumbag scumbag and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, no 10 to 12-year-old needs to be on any of these apps. While the platforms’ terms of service allow for 13-year-olds to use them even then I would be very cautious about letting underage kids use these apps since so many of them are teeming with predators.

Leaving kids with internet-enabled devices unattended is akin to leaving their bedroom windows open with a neon sign pointing to them saying “Child Molesters Welcome Here”.

39-year-old Andrew Cunningham, formerly of Windsor, Connecticut, was recently sentenced to 18-years in prison for trying to lure a 13-year-old Tennessee girl to Connecticut. Cunningham met the girl through the random chat site Omegle. In case you’re unfamiliar with Omegle, it’s a website, not an app, that pairs strangers into a chat room. The chat can have video or just be a text chat.

At first, Cunningham told his victim that he was 17 then told her that he was 25. It must not have been a  video chat since there’s no way that this guy…

…could ever pass for 25 let alone 17. Not with that hairline anyway.

Not only did Cunningham try to get the girl to send explicit pictures of herself but also tried to get her to come to Connecticut by bus. It’s always by bus with these creeps. They’re either cheap or they think that somehow bus lines and stations are magically invisible to police.

Before being arrested for this incident in 2017, Cunningham was on the sex offender registry after being convicted of aggravated sexual abuse in 2015 for traveling to Illinois to have sex (child rape) with an underage girl. Just another reason to keep these predators behind bars for longer.

Omegle is not a site recommended for children but Omegle has no real age check to speak of and anybody can use it as long as they have an internet connected device. And since it’s not an app you would need to check your children’s browser history to see if they visited it. If your kids have a laptop with a webcam I would not recommend letting them use it unsupervised. Otherwise, it’s just like having a window into their room for strangers.

If you’re not familiar with LetGo, it’s a marketplace app where people can buy and sell things. Think of it like craigslist but more modern and stylish. One of the big differences between LetGo and craigslist is that LetGo never had any sections like personals or ‘casual encounters’. So, you would think that LetGo wouldn’t be used to target children like craigslist has in the past. And you’d be wrong.

Recently, 31-year-old Byron James Bresett of Gadsden, Alabama, allegedly approached a 14-year-old girl who was selling an item on LetGo. Bresett is said to have offered the girl money in exchange for sex. Thankfully, the girl did not play Bresett’s game and immediately told her parents who contacted the police. Investigators then posed as the girl and set up a meeting between themselves and Bresett.

While luckily no one, except for Bresett’s road rash, was hurt no child needs to be unmonitored on any app that deals with the general public. It seems that it doesn’t matter what the app was originally intended for as predators will try to use it as a grooming or luring tool.

Despite being under such investigation by NCIS, 48-year-old Charles Leis went back on Kik to a “family fun in Orlando” chat group. Upon finding a father in Orlando with 9-year-old and 11-year-old daughters, Leis asked “Are you active with them?”

Remember, Kik is the app preferred by sex offenders, pedophiles, and child porn collectors.

“21-year-old Aaron Lloyd Mitchell further admitted to posting the photos of the females on Tumblr,” a federal complaint states. “Mitchell stated he had taken the photos through the SnapChat application, and then saved them to the camera roll on Mitchell’s phone, but he believed he had deleted most of them.”

Police: CEO of children’s aid group busted with teen in Clearwater hotel room

According to arrest affidavits, 35-year-old Larry Eugene Lawson met the teen through social media, and the two have allegedly been conducting a relationship for about two years. Lawson allegedly picked up the boy from his home a week ago without his mother’s permission, according to law enforcement.

The alleged victim’s mother contacted local police after seeing a Snapchat video of the boy in Clearwater, authorities said.

Anyway, 23-year-old swim coach Isaak Corrales of Phoenix, Arizona, has been arrested for allegedly grooming an underage teenage girl through Snapchat. Not only is Corrales accused of sending explicit photos to the girl but also telling the girl how he wanted to be with her after she turned 18 and how he wanted her to have his children. Age of consent in Arizona is 18. But here we have yet another creeper who wants to impregnate a child he’s grooming. I guess creepers want to keep a string of newer models once their former victims age out.  Gross.

Corrales was busted by the girl’s mom who found the inappropriate messages on the girl’s phone.

Trench’s suggestion for parents is still the same to check your kids’ phones often, don’t let them have any internet devices in their room after bedtime and have them identify everyone in their friends list for each of their apps. Remember, as a parent or guardian, you are the only line of defense between online predators and your kids.
